View Full Version : Severe halos after ICL procedure

After getting the Staar ICL 6 months ago, I have been plagued with severe halos. They are just as severe in either eye.

They are around every bright light source at night, severely affecting my night driving. I can't experience a movie anymore or look at a city skyline at night without large portions being blocked out. The halos are there even in moderately lit rooms.

The doctor who performed the procedure on me said that my pupil is large and allowing light to hit the side of the lens, which is causing the halos. I wonder why he couldn't determine this before the procedure?

He gave me Alfagan. I think it helps a small amount. The halos are still present but sometimes not as severe? Sometimes I try to take the Alfagan more often to make it work better, but it never does. =(

What can I do to get rid of these halos? They are severely affecting my social life. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your question. I would recommend a second opinion with a specialist in ICLs. I am sure there are many excellent options - but perhaps Dr. Ed Manche at Stanford is a good start.

Best of luck
