ICL's over PRK and loss of corneal density

Good morning,

I am a 39 year old woman and I underwent a IOL (anterior chamber) surgery six years ago and I now have to take the IOL's off my eyes because of the worsening density of my cornea.

My old prescription for glasses was the following

- 9.75 / cyl -2.75 (in both eyes)

I haven't had any major problems, just a little retinal detachment fixed via laser and never occurred again.

My doctor in Italy suggested a lensectomy and implant of posterior chamber lenses which I've learned would cause the loss of good middle and near vision.

As an alternative my doctor said that ICL (Visian 4) would grant a better vision, but I would surely incurr in biological lens opacity after some years. I do a lot of contact activities (dancing) and I have had already some minor eye traumas for my sporting activities.

I want to wear glasses as little as possible, and contact lenses are a necessity to me.

I wonder if PRK surgery would be possible in my condition (corneal thickness 546, pupil diameter 6.72 and 6.80) - considering that I presently
have dry eyes possibly due to a corneal reaction to IOL's.

I would be happy to hear your opinion, given the fact that I have asked several doctors here in Italy and I have to decide what suits me best considering that I am still young and my biological lens is clear....

The Visian ICL can provide very good long terms results in patients who are good candidates and in the hands of experienced eye surgeons. Most patients do not experience a biological opacity. Your prescription is well suited for toric Visian ICL. Myopia level is too high for PRK in my opnion.
